    This is a great workout. It is much better than most of the later Simmons. He is upbeat but not silly and anoying.

    It does not do really difficult moves and steps because it is just exercise, so it makes me not feel so uncoordinated as wth the dance videos. You also do not need other equipment to do it. The pace moves VERY fast. I had been working out for 4 or 5 months when I got my copy. It definitely stepped up my exercise level a notch. I feel like I will be doing this one for many years to come.

    Apparently Richard Simmons was producing videos long before Sweatin’ to the Oldies craze. This video was made in 1983, by the same folks, Karl Video, who produced Jane Fonda’s very early videos.

    Therefore, the exercises are very much the same as Fonda’s ’82 workout or her others from that era. These are by far, not easy, and many of the exercises here are just not performed in today’s workout sets. You may recognize many of the old, but tough steps. It is a lengthy workout.

    The video consists of a warmup and a complete body routine, lower torso exercises, abdomen exercises and face and neck exercises.

    The name, Family Fitness implies the that the exercises are designed for everyone, all age ranges and sizes. Simmons’ class is composed of a mixture of people, few age variations, and most are younger trim people.

    There are testimonials who advocate the importance of exercise. Then, when you think it is over, be prepared for an ADVANCED Waist Section. This section includes the very difficult lower back to the ground and raising up. These are always very challenging stomach exercises and certainly not for the inexperienced.

    Music is basically as bad as one is to expect for these earlier produced videos, but it is bearable.

    What is rare is the inclusion of face and neck exercises. It can only be helpful.

    If you have the Fonda videos, the workouts and level of difficulty are similar. The difference is many people just love to workout to Richard Simmons. This video has what may be a companion video, Richard Simmons Stomach Formula and both are indeed hard to find. ….Rizzo

    My wife paid $85.00 for this video when it first came out. It got lost during a move and I’m very glad to have found it. She did this workout everyday for a few years. It’s a toning workout, not aerobic. For those who can no longer do squats and lunges this a great workout.
